We're less than a month out from our biggest sale weekend of the year, both with the heavily discounted campaign for our new game, Power Creep [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jasongreeno/powercreep] as well as the big Black Friday sale at PNP Arcade with hundreds of games on sale, along with giveaways and more.

It's New Game Friday David Wiley (Cardboard Clash) is here to tell us about the new games.

Here’s what is new this week:
  • License to Krill
  • Game Breaker
  • 9d6 ScareQuest
  • Dangerous Space: Thaydiss, Rescue Mission

License to Krill

License to Krill is a quick game of whale-fueled fun. Navigate treacherous (pun filled) waters, drafting cards to assemble the ultimate team of cards. But beware – the whale (game box and discard pile) is always lurking, ready to gobble up your hard-earned points.

An interesting little game of collecting Krill and Kelp cards, while trying to avoid being the one to suffer the effects of the Whale which gets passed around. Make use of strategic timing to try and stay ahead of the competition, as no one wants to watch their hard-earned krill getting consumed by the whale! Can you walk the line between risk and reward and make your opponents suffer, or will you get dejected and digested? Be sure to check this one out and enjoy the pun-filled fun.

Game Breaker

A cheat deck for all board games! A fun twist for all board gamers!

Well now, if you’re looking to spice up your game nights or to break through into new territory in an oft-played game, look no further than the Game Breaker. These 17 cards can be handed out as desired, allowing players a once-per-game benefit they can make use of sometime during the game, such as looking at hidden information, putting themselves first in a turn, copying another player’s action, and more. This one is probably not for those who, like me, are in favor of sticking by the rules as written in a game, but if you want a way to liven up the crowd this certainly can provide some unique possibilities and, by extensions, the stories told around the table.

9d6 ScareQuest

Ghosts haunt every shadow, spectres drift through the night, and zombies, goblins, vampires, ghouls, and werewolves prowl in search of their next victim. Fear grips your hometown, but you are not like the others. You know the truth behind the terror. Armed with nothing but your wits, a trusty weapon, and nine dice, you must confront the darkness head-on.

An interesting solitaire game of adventure, this has you managing a pool of dice in order to explore the map, run through encounters and battles, and defeat the finale at the end without having all of your dice end up in your dead pool. Every roll has its risk, and rerolls moreso since they downgrade dice after those rerolls in most circumstances, but sometimes you’ll just NEED to pass the roll and thus must weigh the pros and cons of that decision. Boasting several adventures, plus multiple choices on how to build your character to begin, there’s plenty of fun game packed inside the 9d6 ScareQuest.

Dangerous Space: Thaydiss, Rescue Mission

“Lightbulb” has earned his seat on the dropship. His willingness to cold-dive without a vacuum seal has made him a respected member of the crew.

Thaydiss is a fun one, having a ton of tracks to move up on with his gear. Each of them has multiple branches, something that may not be unique to him, but it also is uncommon enough to be noteworthy. The enjoyable aspect of that is, of course, the branching set of decisions that a player faces while trying to upgrade him to take on the challenge of the mission. In this case, do you want flexible movement faster, or to gain more speed? How valuable is a reroll for defense? These are the questions you must answer as you venture through The Debutante.

Game of the Week: Rolling Maze - Tantaria Project on sale for just $5!

You are the captain chosen to lead the Tantaria project. The colossal spacecraft, the most advanced ever built, with a large crew, contains the essence of life on Earth: seeds, DNA of animal species, knowledge, and technology. Everything is ready to begin a new chapter in the history of humanity. The road to a new home will not be easy. The immensity of space is full of mysteries and threats that will test your courage and ingenuity. Welcome to the Tantaria project. Accept the risk, enter the adventure, and lead humanity towards salvation. Everyone’s destiny depends on you!

Move around the map, dealing with the threats that appear each round based on your die rolls. Your actions - and the new monsters - are given based on those die rolls, so there’s some pressure on whether to press-your-luck to reroll a time or two to try and get what you need, or to work with what you rolled since any Creature results will be locked in automatically and bring new threats to attack. With a variety of characters to try, each with their own benefits, there’s a lot of opportunity to replay this game and have things still feel relatively fresh each time.

Humans

Humans are such weird little creatures. It must be fun to be one. Why not dress up in your finest human costume and find out what they're really like by joining their party? Just be on your best human behavior or they'll figure out you're not supposed to be there!

An unusual little game for 3-6 players, you’re all attending a costume party - the party style is up to the group before play. However, most of the players will be non-humans, attempting to blend in without ruining the party via your non-human traits. With some interesting art, and some fun things such as character traits, topics for discussion, and a set of quirks that might tip off the humans. This game will give you a chance to not just role-play a character in an unique setting, but will also let you have fun with leaning into the party environment, or having the quirks slowly begin to appear over the course of the session. If you enjoy role-playing, you won’t want to miss Humans.
