New games for April 23, 2021 - Ghost Unicorn Noir

Jason Tagmire

It's New Game Friday! David Wiley (Cardboard Clash) is here to tell us about the new games.

Here’s what is new this week:

      • Ghost Writers
      • Revolver Noir
      • Unicornizer

This week's new games are all available at

      Ghost Writers

Renowned Mediums are competing to guess a Secret Object, with help from mysterious Spirits giving Clues from the World Beyond!

You like group games with two teams competing, right? If so, then sign up for Ghost Writers because it is going to be a blast. One person per team is the Spirit, who will write answers to questions in order to give clues to the hidden thing being guessed. Both teams are trying to arrive at the same object, so it is a matter of which team can ask the better questions to arrive at the correct answer without giving away too much to the other team. If this sounds like fun to you, then be sure to check out Ghost Writers!

Everyone knows, princesses love unicorns. Some even collect them. They’re called Unicornizer!

This is an interesting one, readers. How many real time games do you own? My guess is not many, because they aren’t really a dime a dozen in the board game market. However, this one changes that as you are tasked with being a princess and collecting unicorns to earn Love Points. That’s right, friends. So put on your tiaras and get those unicornizing gloves ready. This one is many things, and dull is not likely to be one of them. The fact that it lets you even flip things with both hands is a testament to just how fun, absurd, and chaotic this might become on your table (in a good way!)

      Revolver Noir

It was supposed to be an easy job, investigating this abandoned mansion. Suddenly a shot rings out in the darkness, the bullet shattering the plaster behind you. Turns out someone else is here as well, and only one of you is leaving alive.

A fun little game where you have two identical sets of cards, and nothing gets shuffled. You’ll choose a starting room in secret, and the goal is to shoot your opponent twice. Each turn you can move to a connected room, set or detonate traps in rooms, or shoot into a room. The game will be fun, fast, and furious. It will have some room to bluff, to double bluff, and try to play some fun cat-and-mouse games with your opponent. It sounds like pure fun.

      Game of the Week: Chai

In Chai, you will step into the shoes of a tea merchant, combining tea flavours to make a perfect blend. Specializing in either rooibos, green, oolong, black, or white tea, you will buy and collect ingredients to fulfill your customers’ orders. Add money to completed card points to determine the best tea merchant!

If you haven’t tried Chai yet, what are you waiting for? It is one of the smoothest teas to drink, and the game is pretty close in experience. There’s a lot of fun in grabbing tea tiles - although the PNPer might have a challenging time coming up with something along the lines of an Azul-like tile in the right colors...but putting them onto cardboard or something similar can and will function well. It supports up to 6 players, has a solo mode, and a really short rulebook to make up for the component crafting you’ll need to do here.
