It's New Game Friday! David Wiley (Cardboard Clash) is here to tell us about the new games.

        Deck 52: Space Wrecked

A spaceship wrecked (darn pirates!) and the only location your escape pod can reach is a huge derelict hulk. Try to survive and find your way to a rescue shuttle.

A clever little game, where you can play either one floor, or make it a campaign to reach floor 52 - with each successful clearing moving you up 1-7 floors while failure moves you down one. Cards are multiuse and help form your map as you explore, trigger events, and more along the way. Survive to find success, but if you fail you’re going to run out of air rather quickly while stranded in the big black of space. A solo exploration adventure that is sure to keep you playing time and time again, and can even be played using a standard deck of playing cards.

Skulls of Sedlec: Crown of Bones Expansion

Alone, you enter the ossuary. Your head bows instinctively before the Crown of Bones, a formidable relic of enduring construction. Altars, sconces, crucifixes: some of the most symbolic and resonant icons of bone occupy the room. You must find a way to replicate them all in order to consider yourself a true master.

This little expansion spices gameplay with some additional structures to build and scoring mechanisms to change up the value of certain aspects. Build both the traditional pyramid and something fun, such as a crucifix, as you try to manage your incoming cards effectively to maximize your scoring potential. While it might sound like this makes the game a little easier, you may find that juggling both actually ramps up the challenge in trying to do well in both areas.

Game of the Week: Area Z

You drop into the red zone. You’re immediately surrounded by enemies. Are they human or something else? It doesn’t matter. You’ve brought along enough firepower to secure this area…once and for all.

If you can’t get enough of area control games with clever action selection, you won’t want to miss this little gem. Playing 2-3 players, you’re not only vying for control of areas of the map against your foes, but you are also fending off masses of zombies who will pick you off if left unchecked. Each card has two sides, and every card will be used twice per round (one on each side) before moving to the zombie phase - and the order in which the cards get used will determine how the zombies react and interact on the map.
