Here’s what is new this week:
- Wheat & Ale
- Agent 299
- The Square Ring
Wheat & Ale
A Tiny Civilization Game.
Roll dice to build new features and/or activate existing features on your map. You have a limitation on the time to get as many points as possible, so you don’t want to drag your feet since not every structure provides points for you. If you like fast games with easy rules and a small footprint, you won’t want to miss this latest roll-and-write offering.
Play a secret agent interrogating and disclosing information. The game where you can’t look at your own cards!
If you like hidden information games, you’ll enjoy Agent 299. All cards are dealt out face-down, and on your turn you get to look at a face-down card in front of another player and then swap a card of yours with another card. But you won’t know, at least early on, what your own cards are. If that sounds fascinating (and it really does, doesn’t it?), then you’ll want to check this one out. Cards come with abilities, so as they get flipped face-up you’ll be able to start making use of those to your advantage (hopefully).
The Square Ring
The Square Ring is a two-player game that captures the excitement of a boxing match in a quick thirty-minute game. Over the course of three rounds, players will attempt to win by doing more damage to their opponent in order to win the round. Win more rounds than your opponent or bring them to 0 health first and you win!
A fun head-to-head game of boxing mayhem, you’ll be trying to outwit your opponent and stay a step (and a punch) ahead of them. Each round you’re playing two cards face-down, with movement happening before actions, trying to avoid taking hits while dishing out damage of your own. With the ability to sometimes play a third card, or force your opponent to have one of theirs played face-up, you can turn the tide in your favor as you jockey to knock them down on the mat and win the match. With a variety of boxers, each having signature moves, there’s plenty of fun to be found in this package.
Game of the Week: Beach Life
While building a giant sandcastle, you notice that you are sharing the beach with a variety of sea-dwellers. You discard your bucket and space to give the creatures a helping hand. Get points for helping each animal, most points wins.
If you like mini games, the Beach Life has you covered. There are five different ones to play over the course of a game of Beach Life, each featuring a different sea animal. If you ever wanted to tickle a starfish (who hasn’t?) then this game is perfect for you. I also appreciate that three dice get rolled each round, and you choose two of them to use (and can sometimes use all three!) to determine the game you play and what you’ll use to mark off. This game is fun, fast, and easy to get played.
