        Chili Mafia
Things are heating up in the world. Chili peppers are splitting into factions, leading to organized crime and unrest. The Chili Mafia reigns supreme. The Ministry of International Chili Security has hired you—a group of agents—to work undercover and round up the most wanted chili pepper mafiosi from around the globe. Your goal is to bring them to Mexico for a peace summit.

Chili Mafia is a set-collection party card game for 2-8 players. Compete to assemble the most powerful Chili Pepper Gangs (sets of cards) and become the most respected mafia boss. To win, score the most points by the end of the game.

        Spotlight

Spotlight is an abstract game where players play cards into Areas attempting to win them using their Personal Suit. After three rounds, the player with the most points wins.

Fans of games like Battle Line and Hanamikoji will be familiar with the premise here of placing cards into various areas to try and win. The twist here is that it doesn’t matter which side a card is played one - you are trying to have your favored suit for the round contain the highest sum among the cards in each area. This is easier said than done, as winning cards are removed each round so the options for cards to play will shrink. If you and your opponent choose the same suit, then only the higher value of that chosen face-down card is considered for the round. Collect the most points to win after three rounds in this fast and fun card game.

        The Shield of Achilles

Achilles prepares to avenge his friend Patroclus on the field of Troy, and his mother, the goddess Thetis, asks the help of Hephaestus (you), blacksmith of the gods, to create a new shield for him. During the course of the game, you will craft the famous shield depicting scenes of ancient greek life.

A solo roll-and-write game where you are thematically trying to forge the Shield of Achilles. It even goes as far as to integrate the lame leg of Hephaestus as a limitation from turn-to-turn and forces you to have one of the three dice go toward arrows used against Achilles at the end. So while you want to prioritize your own ambitious plans on designing the shield with certain materials and areas, you also need to bear in mind the need to outscore the arrows set aside at the end in order to find success.

Game of the Week: Wonder Tales - On sale for $1

A collection of old fairy tales has been torn apart. Pages from different stories are all mixed together and strewn about. Can you find the connections between the scattered characters to put their stories back together? Reunite the characters in clever ways to win the game!

A puzzly, tile-laying game about fairy tale creatures which children will delight to recognize. The cards are double-sided with the same character on each side, but different colored highlights. Players try to position the grid so that the right combinations of characters/colors are adjacent to their cards to gain the most points. This is pure, unabashed fun to figure out how to place your card on the grid in order to maximize your scoring potential without gifting them points or closing off future possibilities. My wife and I reach for this one regularly, and it’s always a treat when it hits the table.
