Cyber-City

Explore the map, gather resources to upgrade your skills, and track down the cyber criminals of the city. Take on special missions you find on your path, and plan the best strategy to fulfill your assignment before time runs out.

An interesting blend of mechanics are at play in the game, as there’s a spatial element with the map and trying to not cross over an area already visited, an element of discovery as you search to flush out the cyber-criminals, a sense of progression through missions, and combat against those cyber-criminals. What it provides is a relatively quick-playing solo experience that can provide a fair amount of replay value along the way. If you like a little pressing of your luck, combined with unlocking new skills, and impressive artwork, then you won’t want to miss out on this one.

Someone’s Y

Someone’s Y is a deduction word game with limited communication where players are given the role of a vowel and one player is given ‘Y’.

A clever little deduction game, with some pretty interesting rules about what you can do to gain - or withhold - information. As a word is said, if your vowel is present you can take a token…but can also opt not to take one. The person with the Y can always take a token, letting them blend in if done properly. If the players correctly vote for the player who is the Y, they can win unless the Y player can name what vowel each other player has. If the players incorrectly pick who has the Y, though, that player with the Y will win. A fast, fun little game that is sure to have people guessing and laughing the evening away.

Dungeon Pages: Otto, Surly Barkeep in Melinden Square

Otto’s first establishment, The Rusty Wheel, was burned to the ground by raiding Orcs. His second inn, Tale of the Phoenix, was demolished by giants. The barkeep then swore he’d only build his third roadside bar when he had personally rid the world of the last bit of evil.

Now here’s an interesting character for you! Take one look at the guy and you expect big things from him, and his ability certainly delivers, letting you deal damage while diagonal to monsters. His stable of weapons and relics are equally impressive, making Otto a character you’re going to want to reach for time and again. With all the outstanding dungeons we’ve seen come our way in the second half of the year, sometimes it is nice to sit back and bask in a hero who really stands out.

Game of the Week: 9-Card Rally Run on sale for just $4!

"You against the clock, your car against the road.

One driver, one car, one goal.

Buckle up it's time for the Rally Run!"

Put the pedal to the metal and get ready to race around the track. This one has an interesting feature with the dice, with the value indicating the lane you get to move into. Of course there’s rerolls, but you must utilize a die from the previous roll first - meaning you can sometimes mitigate things, but you might also have to be flexible with your approach. A fast, fun little game that offers a lot of small decisions to help it feel like a really satisfying experience when it hits the table.
