Drawing Dungeon
Sharpen your pencil and prepare to delve into the dungeon! Switch between exploring new rooms and defeating the monsters inside them to earn more items and treasure! Can you make it to and defeat the boss at the bottom? Or will you get lost in the tunnels?
A great little game of building your dungeon as you go. With simple rules, you’ll be up and playing in no time. Each turn you either Explore, Fight, or Gain Rewards from your empty room. While it sounds like a basic gameplay loop, you’ll find it to be engaging as you continue to explore new areas and attempt to reach the boss at long last. Beware, the battles in this can be extremely challenging and costly, making it all the more likely that you meet one of two instant losing conditions to the game. Sharpen those pencils and get ready to delve into the Drawing Dungeon!
Battle Pages: Kingdom of Willowtown, Marching Order 2
The spiraling towers provide an impressive view of the tree-filled kingdom.
We’re back in Willowtown and this time we’re looking at Freyla’s fearsome rival: the Black Dragon. This beastie means business, too, as it damages ALL units in its row and column when spawned. That could be absolutely devastating. Not only does it come with flying, but it also is able to target all units in its row and column when it triggers. You’re going to want to deal with this thing quickly…
Power Creep: Yaya - East ‘Burg 2120
Some survivors still see a path forward and are willing to sacrifice for the greater good. Will it be enough? Only time will tell.
Yaya is back this week and ready to take on some Tech Patrols in East ‘Burg. These patrols are tough, as they gain either defense or attack based on uncollected gear icons. Thankfully, those gears are used in three different crafting items, including the Shotgun. However, the real treat this week is her Blueprint, which allows you to reduce non-leader’s DEF by 1 until the end of the turn which can come in handy! Especially since these brutes gain DEF…
Dangerous Space: Jareem, Defuse Mission
His father was 1st in his class. Some would say due to the species’ longer lifespan. Still, expectations are high for young Rendor.
Jareem here has a pretty awesome ability that you won’t want to undervalue: Shortcut. This one lets you ignore all instances of the highest value in your path when calculating time, which is huge since there’s 6 rooms aboard the Strange Fragments, and this will allow you to have just enough time on your way through since you’ll be actively avoiding those 1’s and 2’s when possible. Thankfully, his Risk Taker skill will let you bump an unused die once per turn if you unlock it, and you’ll probably want to in order to avoid blowing up those bombs.
GRIMLORE Profane Truths - Case File #37: Upton Sinclair, Mythos Muckraker
Upton Sinclair returns to a ruined manor the locals avoid. Last spring a groundskeeper helped him escape hooded men; the path is empty now. The village speaks of an outsider who lives without mirrors and shuns daylight. Upton carries new tools, an echo launcher, a tuning fork, a shadow catcher, but keeps his old watch and an oil-stained note from that first case. Inside, the stairwell rises past sealed doors and the air smells of old stone. His old watch ticks out of rhythm, as if time here slips. At the top, he expects a mirrorless room and the truth the village refuses to speak.
Not only does our friend Upton here come with those cool items mentioned in the description, but he also has things like the Chains of the Bound which sounds really epic. He has the ability to acquire gear with experience at any time, so you’ll certainly want to take full advantage of that as he takes on the Stitched Warders and Tress-Things throughout. All of it culminates against a sinister being, The Late Echo, who does extra damage for every 5 sanity lost. And guess what, both it and the Tress-Things have ways to reduce that sanity…

Button Shy Game of the Week: AdvanceQuest, The New Hill & Chaos in the Chasm
The quiet village of Berryside isn’t known for adventure…but that’s about to change. Steel yourself to face the mysterious threat that dwells inside The New Hill.
A missing ambassador. A lost treaty. A strange asteroid. A deadly monster. You’ll lead a team of gryphon riders to investigate all of this (and more) in Chaos in the Chasm.
If you didn’t try out AdvanceQuest a few years ago when it first came around, you won’t want to pass it up this time around. Featuring just four cards, you’ll bring along a writing utensil and some polyhedral dice to design a character and take them on a run through an adventure. There’s a lot of openness to your character build, but in effect you have certain dice values at the start and you get to assign traits and skills to them, and as you hit encounters you decide which of those things best apply to the situation and roll those to try and overcome things. With up to 76 encounters to run through – moved along by a die so you are unlikely to hit them all in one playthrough – there’s some variety in how it all plays out from game-to-game. If you want an interesting little solo game that is super portable, then don’t advance past these games!

Game of the Week: AdvanceQuest on sale for just $2!
Adventure awaits and a sinister evil grows in the Great Myconid Kingdom, a tangled forest of towering mushrooms. Join forces with a brave mushketeer and fight back to back in...Among I, the Fungi.
You want something new and unusual to pass the time in a solo experience? Try out the first episode in the new AdvanceQuest, where you create a character and their traits and then proceed through a sequence of storyline beats mixed with rolls for advancement and skill tests to surpass those events or encounters. Even if you’ve played games like Four Against Darkness, this is sure to offer something new and fresh in a small, quick-playing package. All you need are a handful of cards to print out, and at least a full set or two of polyhedral dice. Imagination not required, but certainly helpful in bringing your resolutions to life as you go.
