Feral State: Revolt

Navigate through a variety of areas, slaying zombies by yourself or with a friend. Manage your resources well and you’ll not only survive, but might even manage to thrive in this Feral State you find yourself in. The gameplay loop is simple, yet addictive, and you might just find yourself fighting to convince yourself that there’s time yet for another run through the game. After all, there’s some items you can collect if you play your cards just right…

Feral State: Campaign. Remastered 2025 Edition

Max and Alice – two brave siblings once divided by their own paths – are now reunited with a shared purpose. Together, they roam the wasteland, cutting through hordes of the infected in search of the one thing that could end it all: a vaccine to wipe out the virus that destroyed the world.

Another entry into the Feral State game system, this revamped version of the game has you go through three different map locations across 8 total pages. Gain XP to use to level up your character to better face the challenges that lie ahead for you. You’ll collect items and weapons, which carry over through the entire campaign. Fear not, death is safe enough as you can restart the page with the same items you had going into the page. If you want more Feral State (and you should!), don’t skip out on this one.

Detonator Dawgs

Detonator Dawgs is a print-and-play card game packed with explosions, chaos, and cute but clever pups.

A fast and furious card game where your intention should be to keep things light, silly, and playful. You’re hoping to be the last one standing, and players are eliminated when they draw a Detonator Dog and don’t have an Escape card to play. Manage to escape the explosion? The Detonator Dog card goes back into the deck in a place of your choosing. The real interesting idea is being able to play as many action cards as you want before, or after, drawing a card on your turn, meaning you can save up to have a really epic turn.

Battle Pages: Kingdom of Scar Lake, Marching Order 2

An ancient rock from the sky created the pool that now holds enchanted blessings.

Last week we looked at the impressive Morticai, but now we look at the other side of his coin: the War General. This baddie is pretty epic, spawning its row’s enemy in the same space as the War General when he spawns. Not only that, but you must defeat that enemy before you can even begin to damage the box. That’s still not powerful enough for you? He also targets ALL units in his row and column, making this one big, bad boss to take down. Let’s not even talk about his attack power…

Power Creep: Antoine – East ‘Burg 2125

With word spreading of an apparent Creep vulnerability, a new surge of hope is spreading!

Let’s check out Antoine’s special Blueprint this week, which is the Jail. What this lets you do is pretty darn cool, I think. You circle 3 adjacent numbers and if they match a number by an undefeated Threat, you defeat that Threat. This could be a really helpful way to defeat an Explosive Horde this week, for example, since they not only boost in power when you mark a space by them, but the leader will damage you for each 5 or 6 next to an Explosive Horde when you defeat it. So you either want to take them down early, or try to get really good at rolling 4’s…

Dangerous Space: Will Tensin, Defuse Mission

Will, the more brash of the Tensin brothers, is happy to dive blind for the sheer surprise and chaos that ensues. Deathwish?

Will is back and is ready to defuse some bombs. As a reminder, you need to avoid putting a 1 or a 2 in the same row or column as an active bomb. This can be tricky, since you WANT to use lower numbers in your path. Thankfully, Will has Risk Taker as a skill, letting him bump a die when marking a Dangerous Space each turn. Thankfully, neither threat is going to manipulate his dice in the wrong way, meaning a little luck and some good timing can lead you to being successful this week.

GRIMLORE Profane Truths – Case File #41: Owen Delaney, Mythos Investigator

Autumn finds Owen Delaney marooned by choice on Brindled Lake’s smallest island, cataloging a lodge’s mold-bitten library for a university sponsor. The caretaker’s boat leaves; the water stills. One upstairs room sits oddly cold, a nailed valise beneath the bed. By night, paddles clatter the shoreline without moonlit passengers. A ledger hints at men vanishing during a winter hunt, their silence purchased with spirits and secrecy. Owen keeps his Gossamer Fang sheathed and the jury-rigged Shardspike Launcher propped by the door. He promises himself: observe, don’t provoke. Yet the island feels awake, tasting him like frost tastes iron, expectant and resentful.

It was only a matter of time before GRIMLORE did this to us. I’m not even that upset about it, because the completionist in me rejoices at the challenge. Yes, friends, the Brindled Host threat requires ALL words to be completed in order to defeat it! Now it finally feels like a crossword challenge that is going to press us to the limits of our own sanity! Thankfully there are some Artifact Words which will allow you to gain either life force or sanity when you complete them. You’re going to need them for this endurance match for survival…

Button Shy Game of the Week: Embers

The heroes' meager campfire sputters. Hungry beasts stalk the edges of the light, waiting for their feast. In the nightmarish darkness, the safety of dawn seems impossibly far away.

The newest solo game in a long line of excellent Button Shy solo games, this one has you fending off waves of attacks. Unlike similar concepts, like The Last Lighthouse, this has you using a party of heroes and maneuvering them around to forage for supplies, defending your campfire, and dealing with the threats as they arise. If you love deep and rich solo gaming with minimal components (just the 18 cards!) then you won’t want to miss out on Embers.

Embers: The New Guard Expansion

Drawn by the sound of battle, a rescue party bursts from the surrounding forest. Inspire them to join the fight against the vicious monsters!

Three new heroes come along to enter the fray if you can convince them to join. Complete new Battlecry objectives, which are a greater challenge than those offered in the base game, to be able to recruit that Hero. Not only that, but you get to up the ante in your objectives, meaning that depending on the difficulty you might NEED to finish one or two of those harder objectives. Is the Wardancer worth recruiting? Absolutely, but you might struggle to meet their requirements and that’s what makes this expansion really shine is that balance.
